Spencer Davis – musician, pioneer, survivor. You can read the story of this wonderful artist, with whom I had a close personal relationship, in my new biography. It is my second book and, like Nicky Hopkins, close to my heart.

Julian’s biography highly acclaimed biography of Nicky Hopkins was published in the UK, Germany and the USA. Currently only the US paperback edition is still available. The American book was launched at SXSW in Austin TX, with Ian McLagan (Faces, Bob Dylan) and Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) on the panel.

The German version was published by Random House with the title Nicky

Documentary film The Session Man
n April 2025, a 90-minute documentary film about Nicky Hopkins (The Session Man) was released. JD acted as a consultant to the director and appears in the film alongside Keith Richards, Pete Townshend and others. Soon after, Nicky was inducted into the R ‘n’ R Hall of Fame.
