Songs, Albums & Covers
Every one of my songs tells a story – sometimes in a loud voice, sometimes quiet, but always from the heart. Have a listen and see which moments, people and places inspired them.
Insights into the music scene
Music is full of stories and I’ve been able to write down some of the best in my books:
COMING SOON! – Spencer Davis’s biography
Spencer Davis – musician, pioneer, survivor. You can read the story of this wonderful artist, with whom I had a close personal relationship, in my new biography. It is my second book and, like Nicky Hopkins, close to my heart.
And on piano… Nicky Hopkins (US version)
Julian’s biography highly acclaimed biography of Nicky Hopkins was published in the UK, Germany and the USA. Currently only the US paperback edition is still available. The American book was launched at SXSW in Austin TX, with Ian McLagan (Faces, Bob Dylan) and Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones) on the panel.
NICKY HOPKINS – A ROCK LEGEND (GERMAN TITLE) (European version)
The German version was published by Random House with the title Nicky
Hopkins – Eine Rock Legende.
Documentary film The Session Man
n April 2025, a 90-minute documentary film about Nicky Hopkins (The Session Man) was released. JD acted as a consultant to the director and appears in the film alongside Keith Richards, Pete Townshend and others. Soon after, Nicky was inducted into the R ‘n’ R Hall of Fame.

50 Years of Music History
“Music has never been just a job for me – it has always been my home. Every journey, every studio and every audience has shaped me. And even after 50 years, one thing remains unchanged for me: the passion for telling stories through my music and touching people’s hearts.”
Julian Dawson
