Spencer Davis was not only an outstanding musician, but also had a very special connection with Germany. He lived and worked here for several years in the 1970s and 1980s, which naturally adds a personal touch to my forthcoming biography of him. The time has finally come: the long-awaited 90-minute documentary film about Nicky Hopkins was released in April. I had the honour of contributing material and memories to this production. Anyone who knew Nicky or loves his music will discover many new facets in this film. A must-see!

In July 2024, Julian Dawson celebrated his 70th birthday with the album *Julian Dawson / 4th of July*. The album features a host of prominent guest artists, including Vince Gill, Steuart Smith, Richard Thompson, Iain Matthews, Lucinda Williams, Wolfgang Niedecken, Helmut Zerlett and Stefan Stoppok.

Hardly anyone knows Nicky’s story as well as Julian: after the two of them recorded a song together in 1994, shortly before Nicky’s tragic death, Julian devoted over a decade of his life to researching the definitive biography, *Nicky Hopkins: A Rock Legend*. The 2020 panel discussion was a major milestone for the team behind the acclaimed documentary *The Session Man*, in which Julian appeared on camera as a consultant and interviewee – alongside greats such as Keith Richards and Pete Townshend.

When I published my biography *And On Piano… Nicky Hopkins*, it was, above all, a personal endeavour for me: to give Nicky – whom I held in such high regard – a voice and a lasting tribute.
I was therefore all the more delighted that the book received such a huge and positive response in the press. Two articles that have particularly stuck in my memory are from *The Word Magazine* and *UNCUT Magazine* – both summarise Nicky’s life and significance as a musician in their own unique and apt way.
